Eli Choi
My journey with counseling began in 2006 when I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Maryland. My goal was to become a high school guidance counselor, but God immediately redirected my path into pastoral ministry. Over the past two decades, I have walked alongside youth, adults, couples, and families through seasons of profound grief and joy alike. In 2017, God moved my family to plant a church within a residential recovery center where I developed an even deeper understanding of the complexities of the heart, mind, soul, and spirit.
My approach to counseling is biblically grounded, relationally attuned, and culturally fluent. As a child of South Korean immigrants, I am aware of how our unique cultural stories intersect with our relationship with God. Having counseled individuals from different socioeconomic situations, church denominations, political leanings, and other unique backgrounds, God has given me a heart for wholeness in a divided and broken world. I believe that by asking the right questions and seeing our stories more clearly, we can trust that Jesus is able to bring rest and freedom to our souls in every chapter of our lives—even the parts we are afraid to bring to the surface.
I'm a homebody at heart and currently live in Maryland with my wife and four children. When I’m not in the counseling room, you can usually find me enjoying homemade Korean food, spending time with the church family, rooting for the Orioles, and engaging in meaningful conversations about faith and culture.

BIBLICALLY
GROUNDED
My approach is rooted in the unchanging wisdom and truths of the Bible, which I believe provides a foundation for navigating life’s deepest questions. I seek to help every client find life-changing rest in the person and work of Jesus as he promised in Matthew 11:29.
RELATIONALLY
ATTUNED
Healing happens through relationship. My counseling focuses on bringing light to what is going on within the client and their situation through compassionate conversation, curiosity, and exploration. I walk alongside my clients as people made in the image of God.
CULTURALLY
FLUENT
I will learn and speak the language of my client's context. Whether it is unspoken expectations in relationships, personality styles, issues of conscience and conviction, generational tensions, political leanings, as well as insights found in mental health research today, I will carefully consider every layer.
